Women are risk averse-to their disadvantage!

Nov 24, 2022

Women are risk averse. But like the saying goes, no pain , no gain.

In fact people believe in the cliche of work smarter, not harder. I am sorry to break the bubble but hard work is the short cut. Taking a risk means inherently calling yourself to work "outside your comfort zone." But remember nothing grows inside your comfort zone. And honestly why are you married to the idea of being comfortable? Your comfort zone is depreciating your zone of genius and diminishing your gift to nothingness.

As Muslims Allah swt has plainly told us that
"Indeed, We have created humankind in ˹constant˺ struggle." Surah Balad Ayat 4

Also
"And We will surely test you with something of fear and hunger and a loss of wealth and lives and fruits, but give good tidings to the patient" Surah Bakrah Ayat 155.

Need I say more?

Coming back to topic of why women in general are perceived to be risk averse? I have a long list of why but here are two broad ones:
1. We generally have been discouraged to take risks since our childhood. I remember that a girl learning to swim was discouraged to pursue this sport because she was getting tanned and it was "disastrous" for her future as a trophy wife.

2.  We are not supported if we try new things and are traditionally looked upon as a liability by our parents and society.

Despite the growing dialogue to accelerate diversity and
equitable, to close pay gaps, little action has been taken. For action to take place higher up, there needs to be what is traditionally called "the skin in the game". The people involved in these dialogues are pre-dominantly male. It does not surprise me that they are all talk and little, to no action. Ultimately, it does not affect their gender and so it's not on their agenda.

Very few leaders, who are in fact "visionary", understand that although not involving women does not affect men, but overall imagine just utilizing one gender's ideas. And "LOOSING" another gender's ideas. That means you are essentially loosing 50 percent of God's knowledge given to humans. And what a great loss this is.

Many of you do not know, but I am an ardent fan of Surah Asr which is one of the shortest Surah/chapter of the Quran (chapter103). The main theme of the Surah is that mankind is in perpetual loss.  I have used the teachings of Surah Asr as the North Star that guides me to no end.

I think it is a proof of the continuous miracle of the Quran that this Surah alludes to the reality of the picture I have been painting above. Till we continue to serve a menu which has the option to dismiss a whole gender's genetic makeup, talent and ideas, we will stay in perpetual loss . The more men fight to suppress women , the more loss they are incurring for themselves.

So how do we tackle this problem. The answer is also in the Quran.
"Indeed, Allah will not change the condition of a people until they change what is in themselves." Surah Rad Ayat 11.

But here lies another issue. You cannot be , what you cannot see. Once I knew I wanted to take control of my finances, I still struggled for years to keep myself accountable. That is until I started searching female mentors that had gone before me.
I hit gold this year by finding a Billion Dollar CEO Suneera Madhani born to Pakistani parents. Suneera's success and her mentorship has been pivotal in me finding the courage to take a risk. A risk of coming to a public platform and ask woman to begin investing. Sure, there are many financial advisors out there but how many speak to the needs of Muslim Women- none. Because you cannot relate with a group fo people until you have not been one of them.

I not only teach women how to invest, but I start with "why to invest". I encourage women to position their bigger picture why and also their "immediate why." If you do not have short term goals, a low hanging fruit that you can taste, you will never find the motivation to keep moving towards your bigger goal. Due to the uncertainty of life, investing is a necessity. The Prophet Muhammad pbuh said:

"Tie your camel and trust in Allah."Sunan al-Tirmidhī 2517

My goal is for women to reclaim their personhood and also secure financial freedom for their families by taking action. I plan to launch a course that is one of it's kind. The course is one of a kind because it will support women for an "ENTIRE YEAR", 365 days-52 weeks. Because I believe Information does not equal Transformation. To encourage many families to avail this, I am offering a limited slot discount for the first 10 women who take action.
If you are ready to be supported for an entire year of mentorship. I will serve a decade of information and experience in investing to you in a manner that will be take you from a confused beginner to a confident investor. This is a step by step blueprint I have used first and foremost in my life, learnt by studying under many industry experts and applying it to real Muslim families like yours.

In this course you will not only transform your understanding of your finances, but you will discover how much as a woman you have discounted yourself. Financial Freedom spills into opportunities for you and your family, so this investment in "yourself" has a much higher Return on investment. Your confidence will soar and you will enjoy taking calculated risks.

Being a Muslim , you have a head start than people of any other faith group. I can back up my claim because so many people have found their relationship with Allah, the Quran and the Prophet PBUH radically different than a year ago. Having an abundant mindset begins only when you think well of Allah. And that is where we will begin.
