About me
My mission with Muslim Women Invest is to allow Muslim Families, especially Muslim Women, to educate themselves on the importance of investing.
This is a gift that keeps on giving. Through mini courses to one on one consultation, my mission is to show YOU , how to create generational wealth for your families, live a financially independent life and retire BEFORE your parents.
I learnt how to invest as a minor through observing my widow grandmother lead an independent and a financially free life. Not only did she have a home (constructed after her husband passed away) but also had enough to get by comfortably.
My grandmother was not highly educated and was married at the age of 15. Despite being a victim of being separated from her family during the 1947 subcontinent partition and living in a country where she knew no one and spoke not a word of their language- her life seems pretty incredible. Her one habit of investing in gold helped her stay afloat during times of absolute desperation. A tiny parcel of land that she had penny pinched her way into paying off- paid off big time when she became a young widow of 5 children.
Her example is a direct contrast to my paternal grandmother who was an even younger widow with 6 kids.
My father who was 14 and the oldest when his father passed, found themselves homeless and with no way to make ends meet. My father had to struggle for years and my grandmother had to study and work. There struggles were a direct result of having no financial literacy.
Time and time again, I hear from women whom I know and stories of women that I have no acquaintance with, speak about how they are stuck in an abusive relationship or a manipulative position because they are NOT financially independent. And they pass their financial illiteracy to their kids.
Financial Literacy is not taught in schools and colleges. A regular college graduate does not know how taxes work and what is a budget. This needs to change.
I began investing 20 years ago, buying a gold coin.
Today my investment portfolio includes real estate, farmland investments, minor investment accounts, investing in the stock market and of course investing in gold.
All of this was NOT accumulated overnight but was slowly added as I began tasting financial freedom and intentionally creating generational wealth.
